Open Door Group and Presidents Group, two organizations committed to improving employment for people with disabilities in Canada, collaborated to dive deep into recent international research on practices that truly increase inclusion and retention of people with disabilities in the workplace.

This free self-assessment tool will launch publicly this spring, making it the first tool of its kind available to Canadian employers. The tool allows employers to benchmark their current disability inclusion practices and receive recommended readings and actions to take to get started or better their practices.

Trish Kelly is an Inclusion and Accessibility Consultant and project lead on the soon-to-launch Disability Inclusive Employer Self-Assessment Tool.She uses a facilitative leadership style alongside an equity lens in her professional work and community life. Her commitment to equity and social justice is grounded in her lived experience as a queer femme, and her childhood experience of poverty and food insecurity. After spending two decades working for socially responsible companies in the private sector, Trish made the leap into the nonprofit sector in 2015. She has held senior leadership roles in several organizations, and currently works as a freelance consultant, supporting employers to operationalize their inclusion goals.Trish lives in the Sea to Sky region on the unceded territory of the Squamish Nation. She is a citizen of the Métis Nation of BC with family ties back to the Prince Albert and Red River communities.
