For over 50 years, Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta & NWT has engaged and inspired students from grades 3 to 12 through free programs about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy. Junior Achievement maximizes student potential by exposing them to real-life business leaders that teach tangible and relatable lessons in order to prepare them for success in the global economy.
Each year, at the Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta and NWT Alberta Business Hall of Fame, JA honours the outstanding lifetime contributions of Alberta business leaders to the economic growth and development of our nation, providing role models to young entrepreneurs.

Participants say it best:

JA isn’t simply a program that teaches about business, but most importantly, it teaches us about who we are.” Martin L. – Achiever

Junior Achievement challenges individuals to step into the classroom and talk about important “real world” issues with students. As a JA volunteer, you inspire and educate young Canadians to experience free enterprise, understand business and economics, and develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills. The programs are specifically designed to help youth prepare for a successful future–and understand there are no limits to their potential.
Junior Achievement’s Company Program is the ultimate training ground for young entrepreneurs from grades 9 to 12. Working with other students, they learn about running a business – from forming a company, to developing marketing campaigns, to deciding how to distribute dividends – they have the opportunity to try it all!

Benefits form an active role in any business strategy, looking out for the welfare of the employees who serve the interest of the corporation,”
says Janine Fraser, Interim President and CEO.

In this, JA lives what they preach having established their benefit program decades ago and constantly ensuring it keeps pace with modern business practices.

As a non-profit organization, JA’s comprehensive Great West Life benefit package has played an integral role in the cultivation of the organization’s employee satisfaction and retention strategy. Furthermore, being able to rely on the consistent and efficient coordination by MP Benefits has allowed the Junior Achievement team to focus on its mission to inspire and prepare youth to succeed in a global economy.”
